Bison Print on Birch by CMB Print Works

Through a juxtaposition of nature and geometry I aim to seek balance between two worlds. These two forms complimenting each other, rather than competing, for true harmony…it’s all about finding a balance!

“Bison Bull” was created by doing a photo transfer by hand with an original photograph of a majestic male buffalo onto the wood cradle. This manual process allows me to manipulate the image by hand, encouraging transparency, and letting the wood grain come through into the image. I then silkscreen the geometric design into the image. The triangular design is printed in a warm burgundy ink. Finally the piece the coated with a UV protective varnish to keep the image and colors from fading over time. The back is exposed, untreated birch wood.
