The pileated woodpecker is a remarkable bird. The largest woodpecker in North America and a truly remarkable sight when seen in nature. They’re incredibly powerful as well, having the strength to peck holes in trees large enough to make the tree topple over in some instances! This creature certainly makes its presence known in the wild and can be heard drumming on dead trees for insects from a far distance.
